In a message sent to all CUE staff on August 4th 2021 the CEO asked staff members who had not already received the Covid-19 jab to indicate their interest in receiving it. The CEO was arranging with Ministry of Health officials to administer the vaccine at the Commission premises. More than 60 members of staff and their family members, that had not yet received the jab, had by August 16th registered for the exercise. The date for the vaccination was set for August 26th in consultation with MoH officials.

Following a letter from the Head of Public Service (Ref. No. OP/CAB.1/12A) dated 5th August 2021 expressing concern on the low uptake of Covid-19 vaccines among public servants, the CEO asked other staff members who had not taken the job to register for the exercise.

Several government institutions have been organizing vaccines for their staff following a directive by the Head of Public Service, Mr Joseph Kinyua, to ensure all public servants are vaccinated and are back to work for efficient service delivery.

The nursing officer, Ms Verah Mayore, who was administering the jabs, said she was impressed by the large turnout of staff and family members despite a short notice.

The staff commended the Commission CEO for organizing such an important exercise and coordinating well until the end.
